The Nepali Garden.

This is our newest project, and one that is a huge amount of fun. The land immediately behind the house where the lowest waterfall splashes into a pool that reminds us both of Nepal. In fact, Datenji has its twin on his farm in Khari Khola.

Now this part of Craigieburn is becoming a facsimile of a Himalayan gorge.

We're even trying to incorporate unshowy but authentic understorey plants like the little glossy-leaved creeping strawberry Fragaria daltonii and Rubus napaulensis among the showier lilies, primulas, Meconopsis, bergenias and so on.

Everything we've planted must grow within the area of Dawa's village - that's our rough brief to ourselves. In fact the majority of the plants have been grown from seed harvested on or around Dawa's farm.
