The Bog Garden.

Look out for the exquisite Japanese woodlander Glaucidium palmatum, and a heavily spotted form of the terrestrial orchid, Dactylorhiza.

The brick path leads up through a gateway into the bog garden. Spring brings the bright yellow spathes of Skunk Cabbage (Lysichiton americanum) followed later in the year by its huge paddle-shaped leaves.

Here too are lush rodgersias , ferns, and a raft of candelabra primulas. Midsummer brings the metre-high Tibetan cowslip (Primula florindae), and its spicy warm scent wafts over this part of the garden.
